The Bankstown line traverses the southern suburbs of Sydney. Along with the main west line, it forms what is known as the large Bankstown Loop.
Although traffic is mainly passenger trains, it sees freight from the various goods lines which branch off it, including those to Botany, Enfield and Rozelle yards.
